Estudios Sociales y Humanísticos, published twice a year, is a scholarly, interdisciplinary, research journal that is edited by the Centro de Estudios Superiores de México y Centroamérica of the Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas. Its purpose is to disseminate and encourage debate mainly on social and humanistic phenomena in the south of Mexico and Central America covering the following disciplines: anthropology, history, geography, economy, psychology, sociology, politics, linguistics, archeology, communication, pedagogy, literature, arts, and philosophy. The journal aims to reach students, academics, researchers, members of governmental and non-governmental organizations , and readers interested in public discussion of salient issues. The journal is defined as a space for scholarly communication committed to epistemological pluralism and open access to knowledge. Published articles are the result of current case studies, or have a historical perspective, or encompass reflections that enrich the analysis of classical or contemporary theories of social sciences and humanities. All published articles undergo a blind peer-review process. The journal is published in printed and digital formats. It is financed with public resources and adheres to the philosophy of open access; therefore, its content has no commercial purposes, which is guaranteed by the editorial team, the Editorial Committee, and the Editorial Board. The official language is Spanish.
