The project will build the capacity of social inclusion through sport programmes in the region to offer higher quality opportunities for more disadvantaged youth. Youth will benefit their social, mental and physical well-being and build bridges within the local community.<< Implementation >>The project will expand existing grassroots sport programmes with focus on reaching out to Ukrainian communities, train sport staff and provide them with the educational materials. As part of international peer-learning, sport staff will engage in study visits in each country and compile all of the learnings of the sport sector together into a practical guide for the sport sector. Youth will have a chance to design and implement their own activities as part of a 500+ participant sport festival.<< Results >>The project is expected to increase the number of displaced Ukrainian youth in the Baltic-Polish region who are engaged in regular physical activity and organised sports. As a result of the project, the involved organisations and the wider sport sector will be able to offer higher-quality and more sport activities with a more competent sport workforce who would have increased their expertise in working with disadvantaged youth and especially Ukrainians.

Schools which try to address the problems of physical inactivity and reshape their environment by improving their infrastructure, contents and organization of work bring multiple benefits to their students and improve their future prospects. Healthy lifestyle and physically activity in school settings can be promoted through developments in four domains:- Physical education (seen as an educational course and part of the curriculum)- Physical activity (other curricular and extracurricular physical activity, represented by educational approaches with a focus on physical activity)- School Sport (organized non-competitive and competitive sport activities and events in or between schools)- Healthy lifestyle (any initiatives linked to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle)ObjectivesThe proposed project is aimed at building up capacity of school-related stakeholders - like teachers, educators, school headmasters – when it comes to the improvement of school-based physical activity for children and adolescents, as well as their healthy lifestyles in general:• To map the current situation with regard to best practice related to physically active and healthy schools in Europe• To develop a modular framework to promote physically active and healthy schools in Europe• To develop a teacher training toolkit to promote physically active and healthy schools• To make the modules and the toolkit available in a free open educational platform• To raise public awareness about the importance of physically active and healthy schools• To facilitate the development of national networks of physically active and healthy schools and an international network of national coordinators• To facilitate international links between physically active and healthy schools via platforms like eTwinningSummarising our vision, by creating and developing a European network, we hope to inspire schools and their stakeholders around the continent to support children and adolescents to be more physically active and to lead a healthy lifestyle.Number and profile of participants1. Description of activitiesThrough this partnership, the consortium proposes to develop a central platform for a modular toolkit in nine IOs made available as a free open educational resource. The project participants will be trained in a short staff training event to implement the modular resource in 15 national MEs in 15 countries. A final IO will consist in the development of a long term public awareness campaign and sustainability plan, to implement the project results beyond the project partners and beyond the project lifetime. Four TPMs will support the project management and implementation. MethodologyThe project coordinator will use the methodology adopted by the UL, therefore agile project management will be used throughout the project. The UL project leader will be responsible for overseeing the execution of the project plan, through its various activities and the management of their execution. A short description of the results- Four modules on (1) physical education, (2) school sport, (3) physical activity and (4) healthy lifestyle in school settings consisting of a report on best practice and a framework and guidelines for implementation- A modular implementation toolkit to implement the four modules- A public awareness campaign and sustainability plan to implement the project outcomes in further countries and schools beyond the project lifetimeImpact envisagedDesired impacts at local, regional and national levels:- Raising awareness amongst teachers and other school staff about the importance of physically active and healthy schools;- Raising awareness with the general public through media on the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyle in school settings;- Students are more engaged throughout the school day in a more physically active and healthy school setting.Longer term benefitsThe project outcomes and results will be available on the project website as a free download. During 2015 more than a million asylum seekers and immigrants arrived in Europe. In the face of this crisis, governments have to date largely not succeeded in finding pan-European solutions, relying instead on national approaches. Refugees – and the unfortunate situations that made them refugees – are a reality. This is a reality we all need to deal with and act upon. Whether it is by undertaking actions that will help to minimise the number of refugees in the future, or by supporting civilians in areas of conflict, or assisting refugees in the countries they flee to – it is a human reality. A reality which demands a human solution. Depending on whether we represent political institutions or civil society, our roles and interventions will be different. But the task is the same - to give everyone the Human Right to MOVE.Many civil society organisations – not least sport organisations – have shown their human capacity by assisting refugees in finding just a little dignity, a little friendliness and a little happiness in their lives. To do this they acted quickly and have done it the way in which civil society is strongest. Simply by offering the refugees the same grassroots activities as they offer other citizens. This happens in thousands of places across Europe. It comes from the bottom up in local areas and is driven by volunteers. It is a fantastic symbol of the Human Right to MOVE being something we give to each other. The project Inclusion of Refugees through Sport had as its overall aim to strengthen the societal inclusion of refugees via the informal and non-formal learning opportunities sport and physical activities provide. With project we took a different approach by aiming to strengthen European cooperation in the field of adult learning to enhance inclusion of refugees at the level of civil society organisations. With IRTS project and its activities we have proof that interaction and informal learning can lead to an increase in Social, Intellectual, Financial, Physical, Emotional and Individual Capital for participants and learners. We have developed tools•good practice collection https://irts.isca.org/collection/ •a Grundtvig video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h10Fbmwcy4E •a toolkit https://irts.isca.org/implementation-guide/•an online learning resource https://learn.isca.org/courses/irts/ for grassroots sport and non-sport organisation to use when engaging refugees in sport and physical activities. Organisations invite and help refugees to be physical active, acquire positive life skills, attitudes and values. They improve their language and communication skills, get a better understanding of cultural norms and codes of conduct and form a mutual respect for common rules and underlying values. Moreover sports organisations and their leaders enhanced leadership and organisational skills for important contributions to the learning, self-esteem and, ultimately, employability of the individual refugees involved.Partners and other participating organisations established and joined the web networking platform, and committed to the sustainability of the project with their active engagement and recruitment of new organisations to expand the network. All new organisations receive consulting and advice to exploit the project outputs even further, via MOVE Beyond project and new Network platform. ISCA, as the lead organisation, is committed to maintaining and updating the platform with new materials at least quarterly, as well as inviting further interested organisations as the network expands. ISCA is very experienced in maintaining such networks and resources and is currently doing so for five thematic networks. ISCA is also able to exploit other international projects and meetings, as well as its annual congress, to enable the network organisations to be in touch also physically with regular intervals ISCA will continue to promote and monitor the use of these tools as part of our ongoing dissemination efforts. The migration and inclusion agenda remains an important issue that requires effective cooperation between European countries, so we believe that we set an example that others can take up, follow and develop further in the future.Full report is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/09neuohedafddmq/IRTS_Final%20Narrative_Report_October%202019.pdf?dl=0
