Manufacturing is among the key driving forces of the European economy and their engagement is a must to achieve Green Deal goals. greenSME project aims to drive manufacturing SME towards green, digital, and social sustainability. To achieve this main goal, the project will strength SME capacity for advanced technologies adoption to become competitive and climate neutral, maximising the benefits for all parts of society. This vision implies SMEs to develop a strategic approach to sustainability. The project vision, EU manufacturing industry sustainability shift, will be achieved through greenSME HUB which gathers sustainability awareness and industry engagement activities, ecosystem networking space and tailored advisory services to SMEs through the SME sustainability transformation pathway. ?The greenSME HUB will become a knowledge sharing area that gathers resources, activities, and stakeholders to enable the uptake of AT by SMEs for sustainability. ?SME sustainability transformation pathway. The pathway gathers the whole process of guidance that will be given to the SMEs for their shift towards sustainability. ?The SMEs that have developed a greenSME sustainability assessment will be eligible to apply for financial support. The project will dedicate a budget of 3 MEuros for supporting SMEs in the implementation of the sustainability strategy action plans greenSME project is firmly committed with open science policy, and project exploitable result will be shared and disseminated. Project main outcomes are: 1) EU manufacturing SME sustainability Roadmap, 2) greenSME HUB. A knowledge sharing community that gathers manufacturing ecosystem stakeholders and all the developed sustainability communication material within the project, 3) greenSME sustainability assessment tool and Advanced Sustainability Action plan (ASAP) definition methodologyand 4) SME Sustainable pathway and AT implementation good practices white book.

Fluently leverages the latest advancements in AI-driven decision-making process to achieve true social collaboration between humans and machines while matching extremely dynamic manufacturing contexts. The project results will be: 1) Fluently Smart Interface unit and 2) the Robo-Gym. The Fluently Smart Interface unit features: 1) interpretation of speech content, speech tone and gestures, automatically translated into robot instructions, making industrial robots accessible to any skill profile; 2) assessment of the operator’s state through a dedicated sensors’ infrastructure that complements a persistent context awareness to enrich an AI-based behavioural framework in charge of triggering the generation of specific robot strategies; 3) modelling products and production changes in a way they could be recognized, interpreted and matched by robots in cooperation with humans. Robots equipped with Fluently will constantly embrace humans’ physical and cognitive loads, but will also learn and build experience with their human teammates to establish a manufacturing practise relying upon quality and wellbeing. The bond between human and robot is personalized, and it is established during a preliminary training at the Robo-Gym, the first European hub for human-robot interactive training, where human and robot learn from each other a common work practice. Fluently will be validated by demonstration on three full scale pilots characterized by various level of automation, production dynamism and complexity of the manufacturing decision making process. The total project value required to commercialize the Fluently device and Robo-Gym concept is 18.8 M EUR. Forecast for EBITDA in 2028 is 16.3 M EUR, payback in 2028, with 13% gross profit and ROI 91% in line with sectorial performances. The new turnover generated requires at least 325 workers employed along the Fluently supply chain. Fluently will bring together 21 key industrial and academic stakeholders from 13 countries.

ECOFACT aims at enabling manufacturing industries to optimize the energy performance of their production systems in line with their relevant production constraints (time and resources), while at the same time introducing a novel green marketing approach through the concept of energy and environmental signature of the manufactured products from a life-cycle perspective. These results will be achieved from a data-driven approach thanks to the uptake of advanced ICT technologies, while better adapting to the consumer demands through customized sustainable production. The core of the ECOFACT platform as such, will be built at this high-level (Apps&Services) layer in a multi-service approach providing an innovative holistic combination of functionalities for advanced energy-efficient, sustainable process/product design and manufacturing management.
