<< Objectives >>With this project we want to motivate and enable youth organisations to improve their current practices and make them accessible to different new target groups and through this enable youth from marginalised groups to join their activities. Through the certification process we’ll create a transparent and accessible way to start with the implementation of inclusive practices. With the certification we’ll foster the visibility and recognition of the inclusive practices within youth organisations<< Implementation >>Each work package will have different activities in order to implement the goal of each aspect of the project. We will have study visits in Slovenia and Spain in order to get to know the field. We will have working trainings to develop our own certification scheme and easy to use self assessment as well as development methods. In order to network internationally and nationally we will have on and offline international partner meetings and local multiplier events.<< Results >>We will create a certification scheme starting from self assessment to different modules that support the improvement of skills and inclusion practices. The modules will be accessible for download on our website, the certification will be provided by the different project partners. Like this we want to create a network of recognised youth organisations working in an inclusive way.

“Teaching to others has taught me a lot about myself. I had the chance to learn a lot about myself thanks to the interaction, discussions and activities realized with the youth during the workshops. An unforgettable experience, I will continue doing it.” (Trainer)“We are not all the same, but that does not matter. Enough that we respect each other and that everybody tries to understand why somebody things differently.”( Boy, 16 years)“Today I understood that not everybody in the class room thinks that I am a bad person, just because I am a Muslim.” (Girl, 15 years)Talking about migrants and role-play them allowed us to better understand their situation. I was surprised to learn that no European country was in the top 5 of countries hosting migrants. We’re told about migrants as if their arrival was a catastroiphe, but it is much worse in other places. This activity made us think about the preconceptions we have about migrants and all other people. Why would taking the train with a former inmate be dangerous? We consider the worse very quickly, but maybe it had nothing to do with the reason they went to jail. (pupil)Involved partners: Estyes Estonia, Link Italy, JAVVA Belgium, IBG Germany and Grenzenlos as coordinator in AustriaTrained trainers: 34 within the included training, additional facilitators trained in national events136 local workshops held in Austria, Italy, Estonia, Belgium, Germany for overall 2142 pupils in 2 universities, 5 primary schools, 88 secondary schools and 41 social institutions. The strategic partnership was ment to foster quality improvements of youth work and to create a work space for LINK, JAVVA, IBG, EstYes and Grenzenlos to work on linking non formal working methods within a school setting. The frame of this project allowed us to develop innovative approaches for addressing the target groups and increase the quality of education and training and youth work in Europe and beyond through trained trainers for local workshops and mostly important the publication of a handbook. To transmit the developed methods of the handbook on a local level all partners started local workshops.‘Time for diversity’ brought gained experiences on an international level and helped all involved partners to start a network of trainers and institutions that are willing to support on the one hand intercultural learning and on the other hand to promote the link between formal and non formal education possibilities. Project activities:+O1: Development of a handbook with intercultural learning methods for pupils, teacher, social workers,...+ M1 Kick-Off-meeting hosted by IBG Germany (Stuttgart): Official start of the project+ C1 Training of trainers hosted by Grenzenlos Austria: Training for already 20 active trainers per partner organisation who were later implementing local workshops in their home country. + A1 Local workshops at schools, social institutions and universities, Phase I (Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Estonia) run by the trained trainers + C2 Mid-term evaluation hosted by LINK Italy: Evaluation of the project phase and a second possibility to share experiences among the trainers and to work on the handbook + A2 Local workshops at schools, social institutions and universities, Phase II (Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Estonia) run by the trained trainers after the evaluation feedback+ M2 and Multiplier Event Final evaluation meeting and presentation of the handbook hosted by JAVVA in Brussels within the final evaluation meeting we presented the results of our partnership. Context/background of the projectInternational mobilities are used unequally by young adults. Young adults with good educational opportunities benefit strongly from mobility programmes, while young adults with disabilities and low educational opportunities are disadvantaged as participants. The activating methods of non-formal global learning used in international mobility makes it difficult for these young adults to take part on an equal and inclusive basis. Also, young adults with educational disadvantages or disabilities can rarely use existing engagement opportunities and are largely excluded as multipliers and trainers in international non-formal educational activities.Aims of the projectWithin the framework of this project, concepts and methods are therefore being developed to- break the educational exclusivity of international mobility in the context of preparation, accompaniment and follow-up of non-formal education,- promote the participation of young adults with educational disadvantages or disabilities in the development of non-formal education,- show young adults with educational disadvantages or disabilities opportunities for engagement and enable them to function as multipliers and trainers themselves,- implement new approaches of European non-formal educational work in the field of international mobility.Number and profile of participants Direct participants of the project are 200 pedagogues, trainers, multipliers and former volunteers who are involved in various formats of international mobility. This includes 70 young adults with educational disadvantages or disabilities (people with intellectual, learning-related, physical, sensory or other disabilities as well as people with educational disadvantages - learning difficulties, language difficulties, early school leavers, low-skilled, young people with poor school performance).Activities and methodologyThe project is divided into four phases: - February 2020 to October 2020 - Development phase: Basics, practices and methods are collected, exercises and learning modules designed and concepts developed. - November 2020 to June 2021 - Trial phase: Inclusive, participative and activating methods are prepared for the target groups and tested with test groups in the environment of the participating organisations. Conclusions for the further development of the modules and concepts are elaborated.- July 2021 to October 2021 - Editorial phase: A method kit, a video tutorial and a trainer concept are elaborated. - November 2021 to January 2022 - Implementation and dissemination phase: Multiplier training courses for professionals, trainers and multipliers are run to make the new methods known and to promote their application. Results and long-term benefitsThe following results are achieved within the framework of the project:- 1 inclusive method kit for designing trainings for international mobilities will be developed, tested and distributed. - 1 concept for training young adults with educational disadvantages or disabilities is developed, tested and disseminated. - 1 video tutorial is produced to support the learning and implementation of the methods which have been developed. - The materials (method kits, training concept, video tutorial) will be distributed/ and downloaded 3,000 times in printed and 1,500 times in digital form.- 200 trainers, staff involved in deployment, transcultural exchange and youth education as well as multipliers in youth education work (e.g. former volunteers with and without disabilities or educational disadvantages) are trained in the methods and the application of the concept and will be able to apply the methods and the concept in their work.By developing new methodological and conceptual approaches and promoting their implementation, the project offers experts working in the field of international mobility programmes and their organisations the opportunity to implement and to strengthen inclusive processes. Thus, the project impoves the institutional, programmatic and methodological-didactic design of inclusive training measures in the long term. This will enable educationally disadvantaged people and people with disabilities to benefit from international mobility programmes.

It is an undeniable fact, shared among a majority of youth organisations, that European Solidarity Corps (ESC) has brought new perspectives for volunteering in Europe. The programme was first announced in 2016 by Jean-Claude Juncker during his State of EU speech, surprising all organisations active in the field of youth. Thanks to its ambitious plan it aims to reach 100000 young people until 2020, while the European institutions have all agreed to continue its implementation further on, with an increased budget allocation for the new Multi-annual Financial Framework. The ESC is built upon the successful implementation of the previously known as European Voluntary Service programme, a flagship programme of the EU for the last 20 years. Even though similarities between the two programmes are evident, there are new elements introduced with its major one being the Volunteering Teams. Volunteering Teams in its core idea involve from 10 to 40 young people for a period of 2 weeks to 2 months supporting a local community through an international volunteering project. Over the last 100 years of its existence, the International Voluntary Service movement has been developing international workcamps as its core activity, which now have been recognised by the EU through the creation of an EU Programme, the European Solidarity Corps and the insertion of the concept of volunteering teams therein. Every year, more than 5000+ local projects are organised with the participation of more than 40000 international volunteers from all over the world. While ESC is an opportunity both for youth organisations and young people, the programme also poses certain threats to already existing forms of youth participation and engagement being developed and implemented by youth organisations. The new programme and procedure through the new platform (PASS) also shake up our ways of working, ensuring good quality of exchanges, volunteers preparation and projects itself.Consequently, the project aims to ensure the sustainability of the international volunteering activities, whether funded by an EU programme or being funded by organisations’ own sources as well as to upscale already existing methods that will lead to increased quality and recognition of youth work and volunteering in Europe. Through a thorough identification of the already existing practices and the methodological analysis, the consortium will be able to present standardised methods and tools for youth workers and volunteering organisations working in the field of international volunteering and mobility. The main objectives of this project include:- identify best practice, successful working methods and tools for the development of volunteering team activities within the IVS movement, and extended,- standardise and upscale existing practice in the field of International Volunteering,- increase the quality of youth work through enhanced methodological planning, preparation, mentoring and follow up of volunteering team activities,- disseminate the project results to other stakeholders implementing volunteering teams,- ensure empowerment, by upscaling the impact of international mobility for the integration of young people with fewer opportunities, migrants and refugees in local and international actions for social change.Based on the experience of the organisations participating in the project, we aim to analyse the current reality, exchange and standardise good practice and be able to multiply the results to other IVS organisations implementing ESC Volunteering Teams. Through this project and the produced outcomes, the partnership aims to improve the quality of the projects offered as well as extend the practice already in place with more than 100 youth/volunteering organisations in Europe.
