The project’s specific objective is the education and training of adults from various professional profiles, having relation to promotion of active ageing or social and health care of older people, to act as promoters of physical activity to older people population, of:1. Direct target group : Adults from various professional profiles (direct target group) around the promotion of active ageing for older people as it is: - Physical educators working in gyms, active ageing organizations, physical activity clubs- Other social and health care related professionals (clinicians, social workers, physiotherapists, nurses)- Physical activity, culture organization members- Tourism and recreational organizations and facilities- Adult and VET providers2. Indirect target group: People in third age and their caregivers (irrelevantly of their health status and level of autonomy), that need to know more about including physical activity, in their daily routine, or need a motivation to abandon their passive or sedentary lifestyles.Despite the highly publicized benefits of physical activity, the overwhelming majority of older people throughout Europe does not meet the minimum physical activity levels needed to maintain health. 66 Indeed, only just a quarter of people aged over 65 years meet the minimum recommended activity levels needed to maintain health (Department of Health 2011). The sedentary lifestyles that predominate in older age results in premature onset of ill health, disease and frailty. These facts coincide with world-wide policy interest in the promotion of physical and mental wellbeing for people in third age, and the compression of morbidity into fewer years of later life, driven by concerns about increasing expenditure on health and social care in an ageing society. The social inclusion and empowerment of the ageing population can bring significant benefits to social and economic aspects, different demands for health-related products and services and for an overall reorganization of leisure. The promotion of healthy ageing is thus a growing policy priority. (EUROHEALTH NET)It is therefore important to undertake initiatives that:a) promote physical activity as a crucial component for the adaptation and cultivation of active ageing lifestyle, that presupposes the empowerment of people in third age to enjoy their participation in all aspects of social and economic lifeb) subvert the seemingly contradictory co-existence between biological decline and promotion of active or healthy ageing.<< Objectives >>- Provide adult learners with new skills and new interventions in a sector that presents many opportinities and is progressing rapidly due to demographic ageing- Changing the mind set of older people regarding the benefits and necessity of being engaged into physical activity sessions, through the emphasis on positive physical activity behaviors and through decomposing barriers and negative attitudes about physical activity- Battling of still existing misconceptions about ageing focusing on biological decline and by that overlooking actions that promote a better quality of life- Use physical activity as a social cohesion tool, which can be used by any individual, regardless of physical abilities, personal needs, resources and shortcomings.Exactly because the objective of the project is the training of people who are close, or work close to older persons (physical educators in gyms or other community or private facilities, coaches in clubs having older adults sections, social and health care workers, practitioners, formal and informal caregivers), the project presetns a high quality learning opportunity:- To make prople in third age more active in prsonal, social and economic aspects - Because of the applicability of the content to many different profiles and situations for older people, that at the end becomes a valuable, flexible tool in the hands of the direct learners to increase the resultfulness and applicability of their tasks<< Implementation >>- The development of a training and education content based on the relevant analysis of the needs and requirements of the project's target groups- The development of an e-learning platform accompanied by a mobile app for the best possible use and adaptation of the learners to the training material- The validation of the training and education content and of the e-learning tools<< Results >>• Raising awareness on the benefits of physical activity in third age. Only a fifth of older people undertake a level of physical activity sufficient to lead to health benefits. Thus, adhering to a physical activity can be difficult particularly when the benefits of exercise are often not immediate. Under this perspective it is a priority the introduction of PA to older people, by positively adjusting it to personal approaches, and making clear the benefits (both physical and mental) of starting, or re-starting a physical activity under certain consistency and self-commitment terms. • Change of the mind set of older people regarding the benefits and necessity of being engaged into physical activity sessions, through the emphasis on positive physical activity behaviors and through decomposing barriers and misconceptions that may result in unnecessary self-imposed activity restriction. Many sedentary adults hold erroneous, negative, and self-defeating views about their ability to exercise. They may assume they are too old to exercise, that it won’t do them any good, or that exertion would be harmful and could lead to falls or pain. • The role of physical activity on the empowerment of older people under a chronic disease or with reduced autonomy due to frailty or disability. Participation in PA and exercise can contribute to maintaining quality of life, health, and physical function of older people with morbidities. Chronic diseases and frailty are bearers of both physical and psychological overload, and intensify negative emotions such as resignation, indifference, lack of mood. Physical exercise adapted to the patient's capabilities and specific living conditions, can also act as an a non-discriminating factor, challenging the wrong conception between a third age of activity and agelessness and a fourth age of frailty, dependency and confinement to medicalised institutions.• Contribution to the development of third age physical activity teams, in gyms, sport clubs, recreation and leisure infrastructures, and in communities with significant social and economic value.

Its neurodegenerative nature means that individuals living with the disease and their loved ones have to cope continuously and over many years with different symptoms and difficulties associated. In this sense, it is crucial for members of multidisciplinary care team of Parkinson to have the most detailed knowledge of the pathology as possible, of the advances in its treatment and the applications that new technologies make possible in this field. Therefore, ""Improving the availability of high quality learning opportunities for adults"" is a deeply thought-out choice and aims to reflect the need to provide professionals with quality knowledge in the field of Parkinson's disease and to facilitate their access by taking advantage of the opportunity that new teaching methods (e-learning) offer us, thus being able to reach a wider and more diverse audience (different countries, cultures...).<< Objectives >>SUPER project aims to provide digital multidisciplinary training to effectively face: 1) The expected increase of PPD (estimated high prevalence). 2) The progress of PD (due to ageing population) which has an economic impact on the health and care systems, society, professionals, caregivers, PPD themselves. 3) The lack of knowledge on IC models adapted to the real needs of PPD and their relatives/caregivers, through providing training for members of multidisciplinary teams. 4) The PPD’s poor digital skills related to health and care management which has a direct link with their autonomy. In such way, SUPER project is expected to have a positive impact on the triple-helix actors involved in PD: improving the work life of multidisciplinary care team’s members by providing them useful tools and knowledge to implement in their daily work routine; enhancing families’ with Parkinson’s health and social care outcomes increasing the QoL and autonomy, building their digital skills at the same time. The main objective of SUPER project is to build knowledge, competences and skills of multidisciplinary care team members on the IC approach for PD through a co-designed training course and e-learning platform. Additionally, the specific objectives are the following: - Design co-validated content and methodology of the training course to deliver support through an integrated approach. - Increase knowledge on the IC models of care and their design, application and delivery. - Encourage the collaborative work among social and health care professionals and PPD by developing innovative online resources and tools.- Promote families’ with Parkinson’s empowerment in the management PD. - Increase visibility of PD and the associated effects - Increase the QoL of families living with Parkinson’s. - Promote PPD’s autonomy and digitalization increasing their QoL. - Enhance SUPER partners’ capabilities to develop and deliver relevant training.- Raise awareness and skills of communities, organizations, and other stakeholders on the newly produced training and create relevant networks across the EU.<< Implementation >>The main activities that will be implemented are the following:- Development of a deeper understanding of the exact training needs, gaps and requirements of health and social care professionals have regarding the IC on PD (R1). And also, to create the basis of the training curriculum (R2) and e-learning platform requirements (R3) by co-design sessions with main actors. The report will highlight shortages, needs and good practices and will discuss the training requirements that professionals need and should be taken into consideration when designing the training course. For this aim, the main activities will be: 1) Review of available training opportunities and programs for professionals in each partner country, and 2) Focus groups with professionals and PPD/relatives and caregivers. - Development of the contents and materials of the training course about IC for PD addressed to health and social care professionals. Based on the R1 and a literature review carried out by the consortium, the training course will be provisionally structured under the following learning modules: 1) Knowledge on the Parkinson’s disease; 2) Transformation towards IC. 3) Professional competences to provide IC; 4) Care delivery from an integrated approach; 5) Digitalization in the healthcare sector. -Design of an e-learning platform containing the training course for health and social care professionals (R3). It will also include resources, news, links to interesting information as well as evidence-based practices related to IC and PD. In this regard, the R1 and R2 will be also uploaded in this platform, understanding them as a valuable resource for different stakeholders. In addition, a space of interchange between interested stakeholders on how to generate the change towards IC will be available. Another interesting space will be created where professionals will have the opportunity of being in communication with PPD, relatives/informal caregivers. Professionals could prescribe activities, reading material, etc. and being in contact with PPD even monitoring them.<< Results >>The SUPER project will produce the following results: - A map of person-centred, integrated care programs for families living with PD in Europe and beyond. An ecosystem mapping and training methodological framework: Integrated care in PD (R1). This will be carried out by exploring the existing training and specific needs as well as knowledge gaps as perceived by social and health care professionals, and families living with Parkinson’s. This project intends to develop on-line training, the report will include shortages, needs and good practices concerning IC and digital skills in PD. In addition, this result will be accomplished by completing participatory sessions with members of multidisciplinary teams, and families living with Parkinson’s in four different European countries (Spain, Netherlands, Italy and France). SUPER project will encourage the empowerment and the sense of responsibility of the target groups through the participatory method, and it will allow care teams to focus and meet perceived and objective needs.- SUPER training course about IC for PD (R2): The training course will be developed on the basis of the aforementioned result and meeting the needs of all target groups. It will include comprehensive training content mainly delivered through presentations, and supported by other sort of tools such as a common glossary for all the professionals, videos, case studies, exercises, and/or reading material. Specifically, the course will provide knowledge on PD, transformation towards IC, professionals competences to properly deliver IC, and care delivery from an integrated perspective. This course will be innovative for different professional profiles across Europe since there is a lack of training and learning opportunities for health and social care professionals on IC for PD. In addition, specific guidelines for the implementation the training course (R2) allowing transferability and scalability of the course to other health and social care contexts will be developed. - SUPER e-learning platform (R3) including the training course for members of multidisciplinary care teams, project results, and also it will contain a section dedicated to the communication between professionals and PPD/informal caregivers across Europe. This constitutes an added value as it will allow professionals to suggest activities, recommended readings or resources to PPD/informal caregivers. In addition, this e-platform will be a valuable asset by the chance of learning from each other allowing the creation of networks between stakeholders who could be interested in the field of IC and PD. The e-learning platform may be useful for a wide range of professionals, patients and caregivers in the partners' countries. In addition, other stakeholders from European countries (and beyond) facing the burden of PD not represented in the consortium will be benefited.- A co-validated training course (on-line modality). To this aim, at least 170 health and social professionals (50 APM, 40 ISRAA, 50 IFIC and 30 France) will be trained on IC in PD and will give their feedback on the effectiveness, utility and quality of the materials and results produced as well as any possible modifications or improvements. Validations will allow the applicability, transferability and scalability of the SUPER products across Europe. - Awareness raised on the PD and IC model through the development of several dissemination actions at national and international level mainly addressed to all those people linked to the disease and other chronic/neurological conditions, integrated care or healthcare services policy and/or research. At least 50 policy-makers, 100 PPD and families/informal caregivers, 500 professionals and researchers will be reached out by the dissemination activities of SUPER project, particularly through IFIC’s world-wide network of over 30,000 members."

In 2003 70.000 deaths were reported in 12 EU countries and in 2015 the deadliest disaster in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, was a summer heatwave causing 2,500 deaths. Furthermore, if high temperatures continue for consecutive 6 days, the negative impact on mortality is 1.5 to 5 more detrimental than shorter events. One of the reasons this is an issue is due to an increasing rate of mortality and morbidity among older adults during extreme summer heat. At the same time, the aging population in Europe is increasing and the older adults stay living longer at their own homes. In 2020, 20.6 % of the EU population was aged 65+, and the share of people aged 80+ years is projected to increase from 5.9 % to 14.6 % between 2020 and 2100. The effect of the heatwaves displays an increasing trend in all project consortium countries and generally across Europe. Being aware of this problem, the EU member states have developed different methods and projects, but mostly in the physical and construction sectors. In most cases heat warning systems have been created and the way buildings are constructed has been modified. However, a social emphasis in our response to the heatwaves is needed too, since these affect people’s daily life and sense of wellbeing and security. Yet, social/health/care educations and sectors have hardly been involved in developing strategies on how to deal with this issue. They are therefore not sufficiently prepared and equipped to counter extreme thermal conditions to prevent and decrease mortality and morbidity. Since the health consequences of the climate change are already visible, these sectors need to play an active role in the solution delivery. It is therefore important to adopt a sustainable approach to counter this issue by developing (practical) education on the topic, training formal, informal and volunteer caregivers, and supporting social and care organisations in adapting strategies and tools on how to support older adults during the heatwaves. These efforts will also enhance collaborations and exchange of knowledge and experiences between stakeholders in different countries to address the problem at local, regional, national, and European levels.<< Objectives >>The project HOPE (Responding to Heatwaves in the Older People Ecosystem) aims to put the severe health threats of heatwaves on the agenda of the older adult service and healthcare sectors and to have an inclusive approach for the whole ecosystem by: (1) Developing and strengthening competences of students, informal caregivers, and professionals in older adult health, care and social sectors on better responding to the needs of older adults during heatwaves and thereby better mitigating the risks. An innovative teaching-tool for students and formal/informal caregivers will be developed and implemented. This tool will be innovative, attractive, and practical to use. The international component will be appealing to the learners, since it provides a broader scope of options on how to deal with heat-problems in times of heatwaves in vulnerable older adults. Increased skills will therefore contribute to better care for older people. In other words: there is a goal with respect to the content (improving prevention and care for older people in times of heatwaves), and a goal with respect to the methods used (continuous international learning and finetuning of the e-learning). (2) Supporting and stimulating organisations in the older adults ecosystem to apply guidelines and best practices regarding care during heatwaves. The Guidelines for Ecosystems and the Database of Good Practices will be developed in collaboration with associated partners, older adults and caregivers, and implemented in organisations connected to the project. Through these tools, organisations will be able to increase their response capacity in case of heatwaves and will become faster and make better-informed decisions. By increasing the expertise of organisations and thereby their staff too, older adults will also learn how to mitigate the impact of heatwaves. This will increase their confidence to manage their own health and wellbeing, and thereby reduce hospitalizations and mortality rates. (3) Supporting local and regional authorities through developed Policy Recommendations on how to play a role in the fight against heat risks for their older inhabitants. The recommendations will be translated into the local languages of project partners and implemented by municipalities connected to the project. (4) By communicating and disseminating project results and best practices on local, regional, national, European, and international levels, the aims is to develop an integrated approach to be further adopted by other organisations and authorities, decreasing the morbidity and mortality rate and improving the care provided through collaboration, new policies and approaches, knowledge exchange and change management.<< Implementation >>The project consists of 5 phases and each will have following activities: 1.Research phase- Organising and executing research activities: Literature review, collecting good practices, meetings, interviews and visits with Local Advisory Boards and older adults focus groups in Rotterdam, Treviso and Amadora. - Transnational project meetings in Rotterdam, Treviso and Amadora- Preparing tools and collecting materials and information for the e-learning, MOOC, Guidelines for Ecosystem and Database of Good Practices.- Monthly online progress and budget meetings- 3 transnational project meetings- 2 online Local Advisory Board meetings2. Development phase- Analysing and converting collected materials and research- Methodologically developing the project results (courses, guidelines, database)- Monthly online progress and budget meetings- 1 transnational project meeting- 2 online Local Advisory Board meetings3. Test phase- Validating and testing the project results with main target groups, Local Advisory Boards and associated partners - Monthly online progress and budget meetings- 1 transnational project meeting- 2 online Local Advisory Board meetings4. Implementation phase- The e-learning course is added to the course catalogue and ready to be elected by students- MOOC is implemented on MOODLE and available - Guidelines for ecosystems are shared with the (associated) partners and ready to be applied- Database of Good Practices is finalized on the project website and available for stakeholders- Policy Recommendations are finalized and shared across partners and stakeholders- All developed project results are disseminated and shared across our stakeholders, networks and partners.- Application of the products is monitored and any errors or set-backs are corrected. - Monthly online progress and budget meetings - 1 transnational project meeting- 2 online Local Advisory Board meetings5. Finalization- All project results are evaluated and disseminated- The 4 national and the international end multiplier events are held- 1 transnational project meeting<< Results >>Based on the project objectives, we will develop 8 project results (PR): 1st objective: Developing and strengthening competences of students, informal caregivers, and professionals in older adults health/care/social sectors on better responding to the needs of older adults during heatwaves, will be reached by implementing: - PR 1&2. An e-learning course for the students at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences as part of a minor degree and as an elective course. The objective is to teach students how to manage the care around the older adults during heatwaves and how to empower them to better manage the heat themselves. Through our network and Erasmus+ channels we are also aiming to share the course with other relevant educational institutions. Furthermore, course will be ‘living’ tools, that will be updated constantly, using new insights from various fields related to heatwave management and response. - PR 3&4. A free MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) aimed for formal and informal caregivers in the older adults care system. The objective of the course is the same as for the e-learning for students. This course will be available worldwide and will be accessible via an open source platform. 2nd objective: Supporting and stimulating organisations in the older adults ecosystem to apply strategies and best practices regarding care during heatwaves, will be reached by implementing: - PR 5&6. Guidelines on how to manage the older adults care before, during and after the heatwaves. Together with our (associated) partners, we will collect the best practices, collect information, and research the ecosystem on what is currently done in heatwave management, what is missing and works well. Based on these findings we will develop a set of guidelines for the organisations in the older adults ecosystem to use and implement. - PR 7. Based on the work of all project partners and the information gathered, we will develop an online Database of Good Practices around older adults care during the heatwaves, which will be shared worldwide and actively within the ELISAN network. 3rd objective: Supporting local and regional authorities on how to play a role in the fight against heat risks for their older inhabitants, will be reached by implementing:- PR 8. Policy Recommendations will be developed based on the information gathered during the project and shared on local, regional, national, and international level. This way we will put the most urgent health threat of climate change, heat, on the agenda in the networks of professionals and organizations focusing on ageing in place. The recommendations will specially pay attention to the importance of strengthening the knowledge and skills of caregivers. The recommendations will guide the authorities and organizations on how to support informal caregivers. They will also stimulate care organisations to empower their clients (older adults) on how to manage the heat themselves.4th objective: Collectively through communicating and disseminating of all of the 8 project results on local, regional, national, European, and international levels, the last project objective will be met.
