i4Trust contributes to break "data silos" and stimulate sharing, re-using and trading of data assets by launching an "incubator of Trusted B2B Data Sharing ecosystems of collaborating SMEs linked to Digital Innovation Hubs". Actors in these ecosystems will share data by using iSHARE, CEF and FIWARE building blocks. Goal is boosting the participation of SMEs in development of innovative services in different sectors based on sharing of data across value chains. i4Trust value proposition will contribute to build trust with data users and data suppliers by supporting 32 Bottom Up Experiments that will involve at least 150 SMEs and 32 Digital Innovation Hubs. The project will help them in understanding the demand for data, establishing data sharing partnerships, identifying concrete use cases relying on trusted sharing of data, by adopting user-friendly and proved technologies for B2B data sharing such as iSHARE, FIWARE, and CEF Building Blocks, which cover all the operational, legal, technical and governance aspects related with B2B Data Sharing. The project execution relies on a LEAN consortium of experts in B2B Data Sharing with deep roots in the European DIH Network. The project coordinator, FIWARE Foundation, is linked to a network of European FIWARE iHubs and they also bring a deep expertise in FIWARE and CEF Building Blocks technologies. FundingBox Accelerator – European leader in Financial Support to Third Parties – is also a member of 6 DIHs and partner of another 37 all across Europe. The iSHARE Foundation, on the other hand, brings to the project a deep knowledge in operational, technical, legal and governance issues related to B2B Data Sharing they have accumulated during the research and development process related with the launch of iSHARE, a neutral trusted data sharing network, with high international acknowledgement and uptake.

Analysis of the Direct Payment Scheme and farm incomes by DG-AGRI shows that on average about 50 % of the European livestock farms are reliant on subsidies. Currently, precision farming is only profitable for big farms and the investment is always difficult to pay back. Besides, there is an increasing demand on more information on food quality and safety and traceability. Thus, the EU livestock sector is in need of innovative tools to (i) increase its efficiency and become an attractive activity for the younger generations and (ii) assure full transparency and traceability along the supply chain. In this context, CATTLECHAIN 4.0 project aims to develop an integral smart solution to support the EU livestock sector to overcome the aforementioned challenges. By recording different parameters from the cows with IoT wearables, and analysing this data with Artificial Intelligence algorithms, farmers get a decision support tool about their farm condition, so they can take immediate action if any issue arises and prevent losses/health issues. Besides, by aggregating the data from multiple cows and farms in a blockchain based cloud platform, consumers and public authorities can access a traceability tool with truthful and secure data about the meat/dairy supply chain. Finally, aligned with consumers’ demands and thanks to the information gather by the IoT wearables, an Animal Welfare Seal will be created that guarantees that the meat and dairy products meet the highest animal welfare standards. This ground-breaking technologies and services will be validated in ambitious trial scenarios with 5.000 cows. The project will boost the growth of the two industries involved, firstly of the coordinator SENSO a tech-startup that will exponentially increase its turnover, and secondly of NATRUS, company specialised in premium hamburguers, who will gain a competitive advantage by being able to completely trace back their products.

Micro-ROS will be a Robotic framework targeting embedded and deep embedded robot components with extremely constrained computational resources. These devices have special characteristics: minimum real time operating system or no operating system, battery powered, wireless low bandwidth connections, and intermittent operation with sleep periods. Micro-ROS will be compatible with the Robot Operating System (ROS 2.0), the de facto standard for robot application development. Micro-ROS will enable the interoperability of traditional robots with IoT sensors and devices, creating truly distributed robotic systems using a common framework. Micro-ROS empowers these computational devices with constrained resources to become first class participants of the ROS ecosystem allowing to create smaller robots using the same tools as well as taking advantage of the increasing overlapping between robotics, smart embedded devices and IoT.

The I4MS Going to Market Alliance (I4MS-Go) will bring the I4MS innovation ecosystem to the market by creating the largest on-line community of stakeholders, users and service providers, for the digital transformation of manufacturing SMEs and Mid-Caps to a profiled audience of 2 million impacts. This will be achieved by the clustering of 11+ I4MS Innovation Actions; the mobilization of 7 M€ of additional public (ESIF) and private Funding though I4MS-Regions, the I4MS Disruptors Awards and I4MS-Accelerate and the implementation of the I4MS-Skills Observatory under the framework of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition; MADE, recognized by the EC as a best practice example of support to advanced manufacturing at EU level, and active member of EFFRA, will lead the clustering of all I4MS Innovation Actions and the Top-100 European Digital Innovation Hubs, whilst FIWARE FOUNDATION, will lead the liaison with all DSM initiatives. MWC, organizer of the world´s largest event for Digital Industries, and promoter of the Going Digital Initiative, will position I4MS and the Skills Observatory globally as the biggest and most influential ecosystem for Digitisation of manufacturing SMEs. FBOX, coordinator of the FIWARE Accelerator IMPACT Growth and partner of 4 piloting DIH supported by I4MS, will manage the on-line community for newcomers and existing stakeholders of the I4MS ecosystem. The Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN), coordinator of the MONITORIS3 project, the INCOMERA ERA-NET Cofund project and a RIS3 best practice itself, will create the proper liaison with the Smart Specialization Platform and the ERA-LEARN 2020 CSA to leverage further investments following multi-regional collaboration models. I4MS-Go will demonstrate how an EC funded CSA can broader an ecosystem for European manufacturing that helps turn the EU into the “EU of entrepreneurial states and digital industries".

Through the FIWARE Mundus activities, mostly performed in the FI-LINKS project, countries from all over the world have already started to mobilize innovators and users around new FIWARE ecosystems. FIWARE is currently stepping out from experimentation into commercialisation. The technology must be adopted at global level in order to allow European FIWARE stakeholders to expand their reach worldwide. The first main objective of FI-GLOBAL is to underpin a FIWARE global community, by increasing the number of FIWARE ecosystems all around the world. FI-GLOBAL will identify and engage multiple stakeholders, who will help bootstrapping innovation ecosystems around FIWARE, provide support to startups, enhance the open platform with additional FIWARE components, and deploy new FIWARE nodes. FI-GLOBAL facilitates the set-up of a worldwide recognized FIWARE Master Course to educate future students and establish international cooperation via a FIWARE Education Community. The second main objective is to incentivise the take-up of the FIWARE platform and facilitate the means for an effective cooperation among innovators and users from the global community. FI-GLOBAL will mobilize a truly global marketplace of FIWARE applications that will stimulate new solutions and business ideas, and incentivize innovators and users to discover the platform and adopt the technology. This will be done by providing tools that support the cooperation among the global ecosystems to implement new ideas/services and match particular needs that may have been already tackled by FIWARE solutions; and launching a FIWARE Global Piloting Programme to encourage the improvement and replicability of FIWARE solutions at global scale. Reaching these objectives will contribute to make FIWARE the “de facto” reference in terms of global open source platform for the development of solutions and applications and one of the main instruments for promoting entrepreneurship and strengthening digital education worldwide
