In some EU countries the youth unemployment rate is reaching dramatic levels, and a lot of young people is not in education, not in employment or training (NEET). Nevertheless, the new generations of young women and men need to play a crucial role in meeting the many socio-economic, cultural and technological challenges and opportunities that we are facing in the European Union. This project aims to foster an international entrepreneurial mindset among European youth. Promoting the professional integration of young men and women, as well as promoting individual fulfillment, social cohesion and active citizenship. The project will develop an innovative model to support young people in the transition from education and training, or from unemployment or inactivity, to the labor market. The project will, through an innovative Leadership-training program for youth, combined with a new developed and innovative Business & Social entrepreneurship training, foster the proactivity among young people, especially focused on social entrepreneurship. This partnership is composed by a Norwegian partner, lyk-z & døtre, and a Spanish partner, Centro Integrado Público de Formación Profesional Misericordia. Two organisations with a long experience working with youth at risk of exclusion. Partners from a complete different social and economic context that could represent the diversity inside Europe. This partnership believes in the learning by doing methodology, and consequently involves the youth throughout the project. The project fosters the real implication of the young people in their society. By using the project as a platform to raise their awareness about Europe’s potential through sharing perspectives and ideas with young people from other European countries. The project has an innovative and comprehensive training methodology and structure, covering theory and practice in the project timeframe. In the first phase, the partnership will implement a verified, unique and fact-checked Leadership program for young people. Through this training, the participants become familiar with their inherent qualities and values and transmit this insight to action. They become leaders in their own lives. This is complemented with a specific training in Business & Social Entrepreneurship collaboratively developed by both partners, to enhance the entrepreneurship mindset and skills of the participants. In the second phase the project will, through a virtual platform and an international workshop, promote the interaction between countries and inclusion between youths. This partnership will create a possibility for unemployed youths to raise awareness and create solutions for the social challenges they face. In this workshop social entrepreneurship initiatives will be produced, made by youths for youths. In the third phase, the project will act as a facilitator platform. The partners will use their local networks to connect these young entrepreneurs and their social entrepreneurship initiatives with potential investors, start-up incubators and key stakeholders in order to bring the initiatives to fruition. The project aims to have real exchange between all the stakeholders involved, partners and participants, fostering a successful knowledge exchange. The project’s impact at an overall level will be the real promotion of the entrepreneurial mindset among European youth, reflected through the creation of Social Entrepreneurship initiatives. In this process, the project will enhance the professional integration of young men and women, their individual fulfillment enhancing them to make the best of their potential. This project complements and is clearly in line with the Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan of the European Commission.

Both, the German and the European building industry as well as the subordinate building companies contribute to a huge percentage of the total energy consumption in Germany and the EU respectively. Consequently it is essential for our industrial sector and our economic behaviour to deeply reflect on environmental and climate protection. Sustainability is a core issue for the building industry. We aim to show participating trainees and students strategies, techniques and methods implemented all over Europe that enable them to bear their future social responsibility in the building industry. Public educational and vocational training institutions must provide support as they are responsible to make sustainability a core topic in their curriculum and in their lessons. Our project aims at making the participating trainees and teachers aware of how important the conservation of resources, the saving of energy and CO2 neutrality is for our lives and our future in general. In order to be able to reach these goals both trainees and teachers need skills and expertise to act flexibly and actively in an ever faster changing and globalising world. Therefore, it is important to be able to communicate in different languages and work in an intercultural work environment. The participants of this project will be working in multilateral teams. They will realise that creative and critical thinking is the key to problem solving. They will understand that the willingness to lifelong learning is vital to make true progress when it comes to sustainability in building. In line with the project submitted the participating trainees and students will have the opportunity to realise that environment and climate protection is not only a national but also and mainly a European matter. First, we will strive for national solution strategies to achieve sustainability in the building industry and then compare these solutions with those of other countries. We will learn about European solutions (legal requirements for sustainability, resources conservation, recycling and upcycling in the building industry) and understand how the topic is dealt with in EU countries. In that way we will experience common EU values but also see that there are different ways and strategies in problem solving due to cultural and historical differences.First year trainees only will participate in the project submitted. Each educational institution in Belgium, Sweden, Spain and Germany will be able to send about ten trainees and students respectively to our multilateral meetings. With the help of mutual visits, the participating trainees and students will learn that important impulses to achieve sustainable solutions in building are only possible by international exchange of ideas, methods and techniques. This process will result in a stronger European identity of the participating trainees and students. We also hope for the creation of a European network by working in multilateral teams. Apart from these general objectives, we will work towards a sustainable consideration of all topics connected to building. We will have a look into the life cycle of material used in building and learn about existing recycling concepts. We will compare national and EU legal requirements and investigate the reasons for different laws. In connection with recycling, we will show different types of material life cycles to the trainees. The trainees and students will learn about the meaning and options of upcycling of alleged waste material and compare these to today’s common ways of down-cycling. Moreover, the trainees and students will experience the meaning of production processes of material used in building. Important technical terms relating to the topic of sustainability will be: heating value of waste material, primary energy demand, greenhouse potential and global warming potential in production processes of material used in building. As the participants will be from different fields of job activities in building, we will have a wide range of example material and products. To sum up, the project submitted will enable each participant to see the bigger picture when it comes to the importance of sustainability in the building industry.

The importance of teaching about Greening and the SDGs has become so much more relevant and important as the years passed making this project very highly relevant. The successful completion of the project provides a wealth of knowledge and reference material that will aid schools, institutions and policy makers with formal preparation and training to address Greening and the SDGs.VET plays a key part in this as it prepares learners in a variety of subjects that are all connected, somehow, to the environment. Besides, students are citizens of the world and will be the leaders and policy makers of the future, thus impacting our planet. The project was partially impacted by the Covid19 pandemic, but a 4 month extension of the project enabled the partners to complete the project successfully. In fact the objectives set out in the project application were achieved: 1. To raise awareness of the Greening issues across all VET disciplines and link them to the SDG priorities; This was achieved with the engagement of learners and teachers at various stages of the project and will continue after the project end in view of the website and smartphone app that will be maintained by the partners. The Intellectual Outputs (IO) 1 (which developed the study unit for learners) and 2 & 3 (which provided the teacher training and toolkit) helped significantly to meet this objective. The Teacher training activity C1 was also a very important contributor to this goal. 2. To disseminate knowledge and deliver relevant accredited training related to Greening; The activities mentioned in 1 above helped disseminate the knowledge and accredited training about Greening and the SDGs. Apart from this, various activities held at the partner institutions helped in this regard as well. Just to mention the ""Foster a Tree"" campaign run at MCAST in Malta amongst others as documented in the greening guidebook produced in IO6. 3. To include Greening across all VET curricula through the design, development and deployment of an accredited module that can be included in any VET course curriculum or else taken independently; This was completed under IO1. A VET accredited Level 4 training module was developed and shared with all partners. At the end of the project, the knowledge has been shared with UNESCO UNEVOC to disseminate across its global network of 220 Centres. 4. To up-skill and prepare VET teachers in the Greening and environmental issues; This objective was achieved as IO 2 & 3 were developed and a group of teachers (4 from each partner) were trained and certified to deliver the training as part of the Training activity C1. 5. To outreach, provide relevant information and involve all VET learners and the local communities in Greening. This objective was achieved in a number of ways. Some are the Greening activities embarked on the campus involving learners and staff, the development of an informative website and smartphone app to engage with local and global communities on the aspects of Greening and the SDGs, the design and development of the Greening Guidebook for schools developed under IO6. Therefore, the Target Groups of VET Learners, VET Teachers and the Communities were properly addressed and engaged as planned in the project application. The transnational dimension of this project needs to be emphasized. The partners in Spain, Malta, North Macedonia and Greece have contributed significantly through their knowledge and expertise to all the activities of the project. This reflects on the quality of the outputs. Also the project has a direct influence on employability, both in the short and long term, since the relevance of Greening in various jobs and careers has become very important today. Learners with relevant training in Greening are valued highly. At the project application stage we had stated ""Generally speaking, this project will result in the modernization of the VET approach in a number of countries with respect to Greening issues. The subsequent potential of disseminating the knowledge gained across the EU and its partner countries as well as to the global platform increase the significance of this project."" And this has been achieved and will continue to be achieved in the years to come with the material and knowledge developed and disseminated. The project partners had also stated that their intention is to build a legacy of this project and this is happening now as the output products of this project are being disseminated not only in the partner countries but also across the EU, UNESCO UNEVOC and effectively globally through the Internet."
