The overall objectives of this application are to find, explore and propose ways:- To reduce social isolation amongst the elder population by encouraging them to participate in various cultural and creative activities, with the help various digital tools, were appropriate.- At he same time helping the local cultural sector during these hard Covid-19 times, but also by building long term networks for continued mutual benefit for this sector and the elders and there NGO organisations.- To bridge the digital and age gap between the elders and younger generations, increase awareness of the importance of ICT tools amongst our target group and all relevant stakeholders involved in social inclusion. This is of utmost importance as our society are being more and more dependent of digital services. The situation and the problems facing the partner organisations are not unique. According to the OECD, the population share of those of 65 years old and over is expected to climb to 25,1% in 2050. The share of +65 within the EU is 19,7% (Eurostat 2018). This pinpoints the situation as well as the increasing demand of services from the population and a reduced availability of public financial resources. Therefore, the partners believe we need to work at European level in order to find innovative experiences from other territories that can help in rethinking the situation, for increasing and improving innovative activities, services and facilities for an ageing population. All partners in this project face similar problems regarding the ageing population and a growing percentage of the population being elders. Individuals over the age of 65 make up over 20 % of the population in Gävle, adding those at the age of 60 increases the number to 26%. In Paris people age 60 + comprises 470 000 seniors of a total population of 2.2 million. Reggio Emilia also faces challenges in terms of population with links to an ageing population, and emigration of youth.Specifically, we have identified the age group of +70 and having difficulties following digital development as our target group to this project and increasingly being socially isolated. The activities of the project will include transnational meetings which will typically include a mix of activities such as:- Visits and discussions with several different cultural and creative associated partners with the objective to find good ways and means to improve and encourage elders to participate in the cultural life.- Finding and using new and creative ways to use new and existing digital tools fitted for elders to improve there social inclusion.- Thematic talks or masterclasses - Exchange of good practice and experiences between partners- Consultation workshops with relevant local stakeholders as associated cultural partners- Identification, evaluation and analysis of relevant experiences from each event- Project management issues. There will also be events in order for the positive results of the project to be disseminated to the relevant stakeholders on local, national and EU level. An important tool here is the use of EPALE for interested parties to learn of our project, thus being able to contribute, read och evaluate the project before, during and after the the project is over. The methods used are sharing of experience and compiling these experiences and good examples into implementation plans that can be used for activities internationally and locally, in short and long term. The expected results and impacts of the projects are:- finding means, tools and organizational routines to minimize social isolation by combining culture and digital tools.- a shared understanding of the role and impact of social inclusion for an active and healthy ageing with focus on creative use of various digital means and cross generational interactions through different cultural activities such as sharing, for instance experience in digital labs (Gävle), digital city walks (Paris), interactive art museums (Reggio Emilia) as well as:- a common understanding of the role each relevant party (politicians, civil servants, NGOs, seniors) can play in building an Age friendly city that this project is one part of.- new methods and techniques to develop and implement co-operational designs of digital and cultural/creative solutions and services.- more effective engagement of the relevant stakeholders who should be involved in cross sectorial cooperation, including overcoming the generation gap.The long term benefits of this project are also to build an understanding of the importance of more inclusive organisations that create solutions together with the target groups affected to develop new and innovative management tools. This will in the term lead to a more healthy and happy population and will also have positive economic and social effects on society and the organisations.

Lifelong learning is more and more popular among people over 50. Developing new interests, common learning and personal development are the reasons why more and more seniors take up learning. Learning languages is the most often chosen by seniors form of educating. Unfortunately there are very few materials for teaching seniors (50+) which take into consideration perceptual possibilities resulting from brain work adequate to this age. The partners in the project organize educational activities for seniors. Foundation „Aktywni XXI” runs Jelenia Góra 3rd Age Academy. E-Seniors is a nongovernmental, non-profit organization which organizes different forms of education for seniors including language courses. UNIVERSIDAD DE CASTILLA - LA MANCHA realises a three-year programme „Jose Saramago” for seniors in which there is also a course of English. All the partners’ organisations have problems resulting from the fact that there are very few methodological materials dedicated for the work with people over 50. That is the reason why the project, whose goal was to develop educational materials for teaching English to seniors, was created. In order to prepare materials which would activate the learners, be a pleasure and at the same time be effective in a relatively short time, we asked the seniors :-why they learn English and-what they consider to be the greatest difficulty in learning a foreign language. The answer to the first question enabled the choice of topics which would be interesting and pleasant for the learners. The answer to the second question let the teachers develop methods minimizing learning difficulties. Having collected that information, teachers working in the three partners organisations prepared 9 lesson plans, which then were used in the groups being taught in the organisations. The teachers presented their opinions about the conducted classes during the partners meetings. They discussed the ways of realising the lessons, possibilities to adjust the plans to the levels of the learners and other modifications. The lesson plans and the teachers comments were published in the brochure „How to teach people 50+” During the partners meetings there were Open Language Workshops organized for seniors. They were conducted by the teachers from partners organisations. The workshops were a form of dissemination of the project among the beneficiaries of the host organisations but they also allowed the learners of English to check their skills and believe that they are able to communicate in a foreign language. We informed about the project and its results in:-meetings of local organisations working in the area of teaching adults-international meetings (study visits and partners meetings with other organisations during the other projects)We finished the project with the summarizing seminar. English teachers from Jelenia Góra, specializing in teaching adults, were invited to the seminar. The project has measurable and long-term benefits. The lesson plans prepared during the project will be used by the teachers of partners organisations to conduct lessons with the seniors. The plans are also available for all the teachers working with the seniors. The Open Workshops conducted during International Project Meetings and discussions with seniors have led to writing a new project in which seniors will take an active part. The new project will also develop the partners cooperation.

The HELP project has aimed at developing tools for the training of older people in Europe in the adoption of healthy lifestyles on nutrition, physical and cognitive activity, rest and sleep habits and socialization. The project is based on the European need to improve the quality of life of older people through guidance, counseling and training through their active participation in education, and the improvement of assistance services for the elderly in terms of cost-effectiveness The WHO (1994) estimates that one in nine people is 60 years old or older and it is estimated that by 2050 one in five people will maintain unhealthy lifestyles, following: unhealthy diets, poor physical and cognitive activity, bad habits Rest and sleep, as well as lack of social participation. Therefore, in addition to the elderly, the project has other target audiences related to aging, such as experts and professionals who assist the elderly and who are interested in obtaining knowledge and skills to train older people and help them in the adoption of new healthy lifestyles. To carry out these objectives, the consortium consists of three entities from three different countries: AIJU (Spain), CIS (Italy) and E-SENIORS (France), which have worked over two years with the objective to develop two clearly differentiated products:•On the one hand, and as a first result, it has been the development of an electronic GUIDE to train the elderly (65+) of Europe in the adoption of healthy lifestyles based on 5 major areas related to Quality of Life : healthy diet, physical and cognitive activity, rest and sleep habits and activities for the promotion of social participation. Each organization has been responsible for collecting the necessary information from the native users of each country to establish the needs and requirements of the elderly. This electronic guide collects knowledge about priority action lines to improve the quality of life of older people. To develop this digital content, the usability and accessibility of the elderly has been taken into account, taking into account criteria for the development of interfaces for this group. The member organization of the project that has been in charge of coordinating Result 1 has been E-Seniors, with the close collaboration of AIJU and CIS. •On the other hand, and as a second result, an open Platform has been developed to be used by older people with a technological base that is capable of serving as a training tool on healthy living habits and quality of life. To achieve this goal, apart from integrating the e-GUIDE (Result 1), it includes minigames and activities that facilitate the integration of knowledge about healthy habits, as well as channels to contact other users and experts in the field as a way to share knowledge , experiences and related contents, integrating different complementary elements: An open online network for elderly people where they can learn to control the risks of their health and maintain healthy lifestyles; A system to collect all existing resources on the Internet, differentiated by type of healthy care (intervention areas related to quality of life); An online chat to share experiences, doubts or everything you need at this moment and an online tutoring and consulting system. The member organization of the project that has been in charge of coordinating Result 2 has been AIJU, with the close collaboration of E-SENIORS and CIS. The HELP project has had a great impact for the European centers of major participants in general and for all the users who have been able to enjoy the results of the same in particular, for many reasons. The first of all has been the awareness of the importance of assuming healthy habits of life for the improvement of the quality of their lives, the second, the awareness of their European identity beyond the borders of each participating country ( fruit of the experience of joint work and exchange of ideas between different countries) and thirdly, learning about other cultures and countries and feel important for their contributions made to the project and serve the European community. In addition, the project has served as a fundamental tool to promote interdisciplinarity and as a Social Space of awareness and exchange of related content new health patterns at all levels. All the developments carried out in the HELP project during these two years can be found on its official website: www.helpageing.eu.

"""ESCAPE: Enhancing Seniors' Competencies for Active Participation in Europe"" was a 24 months project, involving 3 different organizations coming from Italy, Spain and France, working in 3 different but interrelated sectors: senior education (UCLM, SP), Digital competences (E-Senior, FR), Eu Participatory Democracy (Fattoria Pugliese Diffusa, IT). After collecting their best practices, the partners worked together on a final deliverable, an E-Book where they give tips and tricks about how to support senior 50+ to actively take part at EU level, by integrating seniors digital education with E-Participation. There is a lack of participation in EU, especially of Senior citizens facing economic and geographical obstacles, as they have less access to information, trainings, Info Days, tools, ecc.... On the other hand, seniors would like to have their say, they need to be heard but they don't know how to do so. One effective way is to use the existing European Participatory Democracy Tools (EU Elections, Consultations, Citizens' Initiatives, Citizens' Dialogue, Petitions, ....); but they can be accessed and practiced only if the user has basic digital skills, as they are mostly online. The main aim of ESCAPE was to define an Educational Methodology to support the seniors in taking actively part to the construction of the Future of Europe. Each partner took care of one aspect of this process, adult education, digital skills and E-Participation and, thanks to the 4 LTTAs, they co-designed a new Approach to Seniors Education. During the 24 months project, there were organized 3 International meetings + 4 Learning/Training activities + local educational workshops. 22 direct participants (Staff members, educators and trainers) attended the planned meetings and a total of 180 seniors participated in the field experimentation of the ESCAPE Approach, in each of the 3 partner Countries. The final project main result (the E-Book) is now available online and freely downloadable from the ESCAPE website, EPALE, ERASMUS+ Project Results Platform and from the project Facebook page, so as to allow other practitioners to use and replicate it, after eventually adapt it to their local context and seniors' needs.More digitally active citizens in EU brings not only benefits to the communities where they live, but also to the European Union itself, as they can actively contribute to the construction of the Future of Europe."
