SSI promises to empower European organisations to speed up, secure and automate transactions with customers, suppliers and partners, resulting in tens of billions of euros savings annually on administrative costs in Europe. SSI promises to drive a new business ecosystem with thousands of new jobs, new job categories and new business opportunities for existing and new European companies. SSI is not a self-fulfilling promise. While so-called SSI ‘solutions’ are popping up all over the world, the vast majority has a local scope, i.e. they solve a problem in a specific domain, they do not scale (at every level they need to, e.g. at the technical, process, information and business levels), and scarcely interoperate. Addressing these issues is a top priority for the eSSIF-Lab project. eSSIF-Lab (European Self-Sovereign Identity Framework Laboratory) is a lab-to-market project for ICT-24 subtopic 1-b “strengthening internet trustworthiness with electronic identities”, that facilitates the further development, integration and adoption of SSI technologies through a cascade funding approach targeting innovative companies developing SSI based solutions. eSSIF-Lab is championed by leading experts in SSI technologies, cascade funding, business acceleration and continuous deployment of open-source software. eSSIF-Lab will award up to 65 subgrants in 2 types of open calls, 1 targeting technical enhancements and extensions of the SSI framework (up to 23, for SMEs, startups, self-employed individuals, mid-caps, large companies, non-for profit-entities, research organisations, academic innovators, and innovators from larger organisations), and 2 targeting SSI business and social innovations and applications (up to 42, for SMEs and startups). 1 additional extra call of the business-oriented project type (a call to complete the Framework) will be launched, if the number of selected companies is lower than expected and required funding and resources for additional support are available after the scheduled open calls (up to 4, for SMEs, non-for-profit and research entities). The project will provide business and technical support to integrate SSI technology with market propositions, and to accelerate SSI-related businesses and social applications. The outreach though the open calls and the prominent position in the emerging SSI community will enable the eSSIF-Lab consortium to advance the broad uptake of SSI as a next generation open and trusted digital identity solution.

Most EU Member States DIHs have established, in a growing number of regions and sectors, complemented by regional and national networks. Also the EC is deploying a vast number of initiatives to support DIH activities. The next step is to build a pan EU network that coordinates and integrates this wide variety of initiatives and ensure collaboration and quality. DIHNET.EU just does that: build a network of networks involving hubs, competence centres, and regional and national programmes and infrastructures. The aim of this EU DIH network is to ensure the best possible support to SMEs and midcaps. DIHNET.EU will contribute to this in the following: - Enhancing collaboration between stakeholders from the European DIH Community to better support SMEs/MidCaps with their digitisation, by creating awareness, understanding and activating the ecosystem on DIHs challenges and possible solutions. - Offering DIHs an online infrastructure to facilitate their collaboration. This platform will support the DIHNET.EU Community with a wide range of services, information and tools that will help DIHs to communicate, align, collaborate and synchronise activities. - Developing a clear overview of the DIH related services provided in Europe and align them. - Upgrading the DIH Catalogue: identifying/activating activities in the DIH Community in coherence with regional, national and EU policies. - Creating a strategy to reinforce the specialization of these services to SMEs and MidCaps, as well as support its uptake by relevant DIH and DIH networks. - Creating a vision and strategy on a self-sustaining business model for this network of DIHs, and to make this operational. The project is carried out by TNO, Tecnalia, Fundingbox, euRobotics, BluMorpho and FEDIL, have strong experience in DIHs and well connected to the EU DIH community.

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.euOpen Access Mandate for Publications assignment_turned_in Project2020 - 2021Partners:BUTE, THHINK BV, LETI, BLUMORPHO, Fondazione Politecnico di Milano +2 partnersBUTE,THHINK BV,LETI,BLUMORPHO,Fondazione Politecnico di Milano,Steinbeis 2i GmbH,HSG-IMITFunder: European Commission Project Code: 872111Overall Budget: 999,688 EURFunder Contribution: 999,688 EURToday, innovation is to an increasing extent based on digitisation leading to new functionalities, products and services, but the speed of change is so quick that SMEs and mid-caps are struggling to keep pace. In order to address this, Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) have been set up to help companies with their digital transformation. This has been done at European, national and regional levels; however, the resulting community of DIHs is fragmented. The aim of the Smart4Europe2 is thus to bring together and link the DIHs as well as projects aligned to SAE (DEI CSAs, ECSEL, I4MS, etc.) and making DIH services more widely available to SMEs and mid-caps. Smart4Europe2 will: • Provide services supporting the SAE network including a single Innovation Portal, Market Place, Service Centre, broad dissemination activities and coaching & training of SMEs and DIHs • Strengthen the SAE community cohesion and facilitate collaboration and knowledge transfer • Attract new stakeholders (SMEs and mid-caps) and achieve broad coverage by targeted outreach activities via own networks and multipliers (ENN, NCPs, and clusters) • Grow the SAE ecosystem by connecting with new stakeholders and multiplying the impacts by collaborating with related projects, initiatives and networks and enable brokering • Sustain the SAE network by creating a strategic roadmap based on a SAE technology and innovation radar, DIH business and collaboration models, strategic linkage of national and regional initiatives and via leveraging investment. The work will expand upon the successful Smart4Europe1 CSA, driven by a strong consortium of partners that have already demonstrated their commitment in shaping the SAE Initiative. Under the SAE umbrella there will be a growing number of projects, focusing on different technology domains which Smart4Europe2 will bring together to collaborate and link to other initiatives, helping it to grow organically to catalyse digitisation throughout Europe.

This will be worked on by a consortium gathering all the industry associations including the scientific ones supported by 40 associated partners all along the value chain. This group will first create a European definition of advanced semiconductor packaging illustrated by visuals and glossary. The tasks are: build the “who’s who” of advanced semiconductor packaging, involve SMEs, Start-ups and Scale-ups, RTOs; map the entire supply chain from design, materials, equipment, fabs, and all the way to test and reliability; engage with MS, Regions and the specific agencies to consolidate the policies; study the other Chips Acts deployed in non-member countries and assess the existing European position in the global packaging world, for the most pertinent European needs and applications; aggregate the recent past similar actions at national or regional clusters level; engage with world leading OSATs and European stakeholders to reconsider manufacturing in Europe; assess the gaps in education and skills required for human resources geared towards advanced packaging and citizen’s awareness. Objectives for guidance also include the Chips-packaging diplomacy, autonomy but no isolation, partnering with competencies from all over the world, vulnerability and sovereignty issues, for a decade long vision and a resilient European industrial infrastructure, making it possible to create local economic strengths, to create local jobs and to maintain and reinforce local advanced know-how and expertise in the long run while reinforcing European leadership in the race to
