Open Access Mandate for Publications and Research data assignment_turned_in Project2020 - 2022Partners:SYNYOSYNYOFunder: European Commission Project Code: 882055Overall Budget: 174,167 EURFunder Contribution: 174,167 EURCDE4Peace will explore the potential of Concept Development and Experimentation (CDE) for enhancing the EU’s conflict prevention and peace-building policy. CDE is seen as a promising tool for the transformation of complex security systems - especially in NATO context - but its potential for EU policies hasn’t yet been investigated. The project therefore will assess the applicability and compatibility of the CDE methodology and tools with strategic and operational concepts in the area of EU conflict prevention and peace-building (CPPB). Furthermore, the project will introduce and adapt CDE to EU CPPB by defining the requirements for an innovative CDE tool tailored for this specific policy area. Finally, the project will define actionable policy recommendations for implementing the CDE methodology and tools in the complex EU policy-making process. The project will employ an interdisciplinary methodology for applied policy research which links qualitative research methods from Conflict and Peace studies with quantitative CDE tools. This innovative research methodology follows a four-phase operational logic: 1) Concept review and quantification; 2) Technology assessment of CDE tools; 3) Definition of requirements for an innovative CDE tool; and 4) Policy recommendations for integrating the CDE methodology in the EU decision-making. The project will clearly contribute to the European Research Area by linking the academic and policy analysis on EU conflict prevention and peace-building with experimental research and CDE in particular. As a Marie Skłodowska-Curie action, it will also enhance the potential of the experienced researcher by a carefully-designed international and intersectoral mobility. In general, the project’s research and innovation objectives are highly relevant for the current developments in the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) which forms the political framework of EU conflict prevention and peace-building.

Empirical studies demonstrate that the type and quality of daily activities are constitutive for senior citizens' Quality of Life, and for how many more years they would like to live. Meanwhile, there are very few studies collecting data on daily activities from respondents aged 65+. Even fewer collect information on respondent’s evaluation of these activities. This project aims to give voice to the respondents by collecting data on everyday events and their subjective perception by individuals aged 65+. It will use a time-use approach, i.e, Experience Sampling Method (ESM) including important methodological innovations. Three algorithms will be used to collect different but compatible sets of time-based data and allow for comparative analyses between them. Data collection will take one week per person and each individual will provide information on 15-50 time-points. First algorithm will use classic ESM approach to provide information on how events are plotted across the day and the week, and how wellbeing fluctuates depending on time and day. Second algorithm will allow respondents recording events which are meaningful to them and most detrimental to their wellbeing. Third algorithm will provide information on events considered essential for how a day is structured. Altogether the three datasets will be used to answer questions about the dynamics of elderly’s days, how they experience different activities and how these experiences affect their wellbeing and quality of life. We aim at promoting this project as bringing essential new knowledge not only for policy-makers but also for practitioners and elderly individuals themselves. Along with scientific publications, easy-to-understand brochures including main findings and recommendations will be made available online.

These transitions must be science-based and sensitive to actual societal needs to ensure they realize their full socio-environmental benefits. Implementing an approach that is focused on collaborative knowledge valorisation (CKV) and supports collaboration across the quadruple helix (QH) has a powerful potential of moving such innovations beyond the current state of affairs and achieving much more sustainable and better rooted impact. Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) have emerged as a promising field where participatory planning and co-design have been experimented with recently, resulting in innovative best practices. These approaches have provided essential experience in uniting local residents, businesses, academia, and decision-makers to enhance green and blue infrastructures in a participatory and inclusive manner. A lack of knowledge, resources, and skills often hinders the maintenance of NBS, affecting ecosystem integrity and the provision of ecosystem services essential for climate change adaptation and mitigation. GreenEsteem builds on and advances best practices in the field of NBS through piloting the co-evaluation and co-design of sustainable NBS in two living labs (Konin & Sofia). Based on pilot outcomes and with strong support of expert groups and national expert roundtables, a comprehensive training program for CKV are established to tackle barriers and skill gaps among QH stakeholders. Strategic roadmaps and events launch and intensify cross-fertilization networks engaged in the green transition. Supported by an online platform featuring best practice toolkits, online training modules, a digital handbook, and policy recommendations, GreenEsteem is designed to reach practitioners, citizens and researchers alike, ensuring the replication of best practices of collaborative knowledge valorisation across Europe.

It encourages for innovation, projects to ‘figure out how, when and where ICT can be used effectively’ and activities to support care home staff and patients to increase their digital competence and eventually benefit more from the latest ICT. Our main objective is to overcome care home problems/needs by using ICT to create innovative solutions for care home institutions, including ICT enabled care services, and ICT enabled self-care services for adults who are based in care homes. We propose to create scientific knowledge, methodological framework for ICT implementation in care homes, a care home patient monitoring software prototype and policy recommendations to innovatively contribute on the policies of Turkey and EU countries regarding care home ICT interventions. Our innovative project will work on advanced ICT-enabled care services including digital health (convergence of digital revolutions in care), electronic health (transfer of health resources and care by electronic means), technology enabled care (TEC) services (the use of telehealth, telecare, telemedicine, telecoaching) and wearable devices (sensor applied to the body which converts physiological signals, e.g. heart rate, movement, other physical signals). Evidence of the benefits and potentials of ICT to care sector is promising and extensive where we have planned combining the strengths and knowledge of professional health care experts, care home experts, administrators, academicians, technology experts, private companies, social advocacy groups, local, national and international authorities. Our proposed consortium, led by the coordinator Karamanoglu Mehmetbey University, is cross-disciplinary and multi-dimensional to bring together the strengths and knowledge of adult care home educators, care home staff, subject expert academicians, researchers and ICT company experts in our partner countries. The proposed consortium allows for the project to draw on a blend of skills and experience, and to access opportunities to trial and disseminate the outcomes through a number of learning activities covering adult learners across the EU.The main activities include training adult educators of care homes, ICT experts in health-technology, academics and researchers (76 people in total) in our planned 5 days intensive short-term joint staff trainings in the partner countries. The intellectual outputs that will be produced include O1, mapping the scientific literature, O2, methodological framework for implementation, O3, policy recommendations and O4, creating care home patient monitoring software prototype. The final conference and workshops in each partner country will serve to disseminate project results to a wide range of people and institutions in Turkey and Europe. Dissemination of outputs will take place through presentations, journal articles, publications and website including our intellectual outputs. We will publish and disseminate all our results in Turkish, Italian, Spanish, German and English. We will also share components of our LTT trainings, materials and knowledge exchange in a free to access format for a large number of people to benefit from our outcomes. We will use mixed method research methodology by employing interviews, questionnaires, surveys and scientific reports analysis. Our partners’ subject expert academicians and researchers will lead mixed method research in qualitative and quantitative research formats in collaboration with adult educators/staff of care homes to examine the effectiveness of ICT in care homes, its effectiveness, strengths and weaknesses, methodological components, socio-cultural requirements and so on.The outcomes are expected to provide impacts including; -Adult educators and staff in care homes will improve their ICT knowledge and the quality of care services that they provide. Through working together with ICT experts, academics and subject experts in care home sector, they will develop their cooperation skills, professionalism, knowledge and experiences. -Participants (ICT experts, academics, adult staff) will explore and better understand the need for ICT in care home sector and develop practical skills in using components of ICT for care homes benefits. -Academics and researchers will improve their practical knowledge and experiences in working with care home staff, offering professional guidance on real care home problems that they face today, work together with European partners to extend their scope of knowledge, and apply theoretical knowledge regarding ICT into practice in care homes.-Partners will improve the quality of care home ICT training programs in the field of care sector.
