Equity is a multidimensional concept requiring the comparison of different aspects of well-being. This is even truer in modern “Risk Societies”, where equity has to be assessed in different possible or likely scenarios, over long periods. The aim of project EquiRisk is to develop methods and evaluation tools making it possible to coherently aggregate different dimensions of well-being in risky economic environments, so that we can assess the equity of individual situations. To this end, we will use the framework proposed by the theory of fair social choice : the theory proposes to ground the aggregation of different dimensions of well-being in individuals' preferences. We will first further explore the method by applying it on happiness data and by better understanding the formation and the evolution of preferences. We will then address the specific challenges raised by situations involving risks. One problem is to decide which preferences should be taken into account in that case, how to aggregate different “states of the world”, and more importantly how to jointly take into account inequalities in risks and in final consequences. After tackling the problem at a general level, the project will study two more specific issues: climate change and human longevity, which both involve risk and time. Climate change raises the issue of intergenerational equity while the number of future generations is itself unknown and catastrophes may unfairly affect some of them. Human longevity raises the question of the cumulative effects of income and length of life inequalities. In both cases, the project will seek to identify public policies that can reduce the different sources of unfairness. The results of project EquiRisk will appear on a website and in working papers (to be published in peer-reviewed journals) as the project develops. A seminar will also be set up to engage discussions with scholars from different disciplinary backgrounds about the multidimensional aspect of equity and the specific issues raised by the presence of risks. A synthesis of the project will be made during a final international conference gathering prominent scholars from various disciplines. A dissemination of the results of project EquiRisk directed at public authorities and international agencies will also be organized, in particular through the participation of one member of the group to the next IPCC report.

The aim of this multidisciplinary action-research, led by a team of sociologists, psychologists and jurists, is to study the issues and dynamics of the social reintegration brakes and levers of ITC/ODSR in open custody. The study is focused on the problematic of the interlinkages between the individual and collective dimensions of their social reintegration by exploring two main hypotheses: (H1) socio-judicial practices in open custody for ITC/ODSR reintegration require to identify specific issues linked to adjustments of interpretations and expectations between the main actors involved in their reintegration process and societal requests; (H2) social reintegration of ITC/ODSR in open custody is linked to the dynamics of individual resistance and collective efficacy. The project will deliver empirically grounded analyses into the professional practices and psychosocial factors of ITC/ODSR social reintegration. The project will use a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis based on factorial surveys and data collected through judicial documents with qualitative research interviews and narrative methods. The innovative contribution of the research resides in the analysis produced by cross-referencing data collected among professional actors and ITC/ODSR, their families and relatives. For both hypotheses, we will collect qualitative and quantitative data from: (a) professional practices of judicial and association actors; (b) ITC/ODSR families and collective relationships; (c) their social trajectories and experiences.

The ARA CAMPUS project takes place in the context of the digital humanities. It is devoted to the central problem of the constitution and use of the scientific heritage of the social sciences and humanities (SSH) in form of digital audiovisual archives (AV). By adopting a cognitive and semiotic approach of AV archives (popularized through the slogan of the "linguistic turn" of archives), the ARA Campus project gives a full priority to the analysis of the specific structural (thematic, narrative, discursive, pragmatic, visual and acoustic , ...) characteristics of any AV media. The basic assumption here is that this approach is able to satisfy the multiple needs and expectations of each actor (teacher, researcher, student, doctoral, professional expert, ...) who wants to actively intervene on audiovisual media in order to “transform” it into an intellectual resource properly speaking - in an appropriate resource for specific contexts of use: teaching, research, development of a scientific heritage. With reference to this general framework, the partners of the consortium of the ARA Campus project intend to coordinate their efforts for 30 months of research and development around five major themes as follows: Priority 1: Development of a demonstrator of a software platform (called ARA Campus Studio) providing opportunities for (individual or collective) actors in the fields of SSH to achieve and maintain autonomously their personal archives of AV resources. Priority 2: Provision to any user of the ARA Campus platform with common meta-linguistic (terminological) resources ready for use for a personal archive project: 2.1) a core (“generic”) ontology for the SSH, a common thesaurus and basic models of description/indexing of AV resources; 2.2) work interface composed of interactive "forms" customizable to the specificities in the constitution, description and (re-)publishing of AV corpuses; 2.3) possibility of using common standards such as OAI, DC or LOM, languages and common thesauri (eg LCSH) to improve the usability of an archive based on an interoperable organization of knowledge through the implementation of SKOS. Priority 3: Provision to any user of the platform ARA Campus platform of a rich library of templates for the (automatic and / or "author") publication of audiovisual corpuses: customized templates for the publishing of AV portals, (semi- automatic) templates for the publishing of video-files, templates for different kinds of access to AV corpus, ... Priority 4: Implementation of (meta-) AAR Campus portal with: 4.1) a central access to all other portals based on the same technology and a research motor based on a simplified shared catalogue integrating OAI standard; 4.2) (for any identified and authorized user) a sustainable access to all applications of the ARA Campus platform and to all shareable resources. Priority 5: Close cooperation with main stakeholders in the field of digital humanities in France: 6.1) first category of stakeholders: the major French institutional programs: education, including the UNT UOH, the CERIMES and Canal-U; research including the CCSD (CNRS) and its Open Archives (MédiHal, Hal-Video), ISIDORE, the program IR Corpus and the TGE Adonis; governance: Athena Alliance, Campus Condorcet, PRS Hesam, UNPIDF, network of MSH, ...); 6.2) second category of stakeholders: individual actors (teachers, researchers, PhD students, ...) and collective actors (research laboratories, ...) involved in projects aiming at the constitution and exploitation of - personal - AV archives.
