Smart Business Skills of Tourism University Students Applicable on International Labour Market

<< Background >>The aim of the project is to enhance the business skills of tourism students on the international labor market. The project focuses on (1) identification of skills' requirements of tourism university students in today's highly complex and dynamic labor market, (2) modification of selected courses syllabus taught at partnering universities, (3) designing online web application for students to acquire digital skills and (4) testing the new syllabus and analyzing the feedback from students. Developments in technology, climate change, and growing uncertainty caused by the recent COVID-19 crisis put pressure on the skills of university students. Smart business skills combining soft and hard features are inevitable. The project focuses on V4 countries (Slovakia, Czechia, Poland) and builds on strong cooperation with the private sector represented by Pelicantravel, Ltd. This online travel agency is active in Slovak, Czech and Polish markets.<< Objectives >>1) Development of hard (digital) and soft skills of students in the field of tourism in the post-covid period in selected courses meeting the labor market requirements in V4 (The Visegrad Group)2) Development of long-term and sustainable cooperation in the field of tourism within the framework of selected universities in V4 and Pelicantravel3) Providing online web application (connected with a blog tool) to public/students/teachers to spread the possibility to establish a startup and start own business<< Implementation >>1) Planning phase of the project - detailed project plan2) The first meeting in Banská Bystrica (November 2021)3) Identification of skills' requirements of tourism university students on today's highly complex and dynamic labor market (November 2021 – June 2022)4) The second meeting in Zlín (June 2022)5) Modifying selected courses syllabus taught at partnering universities (July 2022 – June 2023)6) Designing online web application for students to acquire digital skills (July 2022 – September 2023)7) The third meeting in Bratislava (July 2023)8) The fourth meeting in Krakow (March 2024)9) Testing the new syllabus and analysing the feed-back from students (February 2023 – March 2024) 10) Multiplier event 1 - SMARTBUS11) Online multiplier event 2 - SMARTBUS12) Finishing project phase<< Results >>Project results:1.)
